Rosie's Story
"Rosie"  Fall - 2008
"Rosie" was 14 years old when we bought her for our then, 3 year old daughter.  The two of them shared many years of riding, and fond memories together.

When our daughter grew out of "Rosie", we agreed to sell her to a local family with a young daughter who had been taking riding lessons.

A year or so, later my daughter and I decided to visit "Rosie", and we were shocked to find her in such bad condition.  Knowing that we had to do something, we offered to buy "Rosie" back, despite learning that she had foundered several times, had heaves, and wasn't expected to live much longer.  "Rosie" was re-united with our family in 1999.

In her 30's, "Rosie" began to have difficulty chewing hay, she foundered again, and was experiencing debilitating arthritis to the point that I was helping her up several times a week.

Maintaining "Rosie's" nutritional levels while managing all the prior ailments, as well as the many changes experienced in later life, proved to be extremely challenging, as every "complete feed" I tried would cause her to founder.

After exhausting all of my conventional options, I began to research natural alternatives, which led me back to what I knew...Herbs.  My Mom was an herbalist, and I'd grown up knowing their healing benefits all of my life.  So, after detailed research and testing, I began to custom blend herbal supplements for "Rosie", and within 2 weeks I noticed a difference, they were helping her!  Finally I was able to address "Rosie's" nutritional needs, as well as alieviate her arthritis pain, without the threat of her foundering.
"Rosie" is how it all started....  Sage Meadow Herbs.

"Rosie" was given herbal supplements with her grain every morning, and at the ripe ol' age of 43, she continued to be healthy, comfortable and happy, while maintaining her weight without foundering.

"Rosie could be quite mischievous at times, that's how we knew she was feeling good.

Every spring "Rosie" welcomed her role as a doting new grandmother, and with great pride and love, she would babysitt the foals, during weaning.

Most of all however, "Rosie" loved her 2nd generation of "Little Loves," our 4 year old Granddaughter and 1 1/2 year old Grandson.   Together they would go for walks, eat grain, brush-n-brush-n-brush, and share a bottomless bag of carrots!

On the morning of September 26, 2009 our dear "Rosie" peacefully took her last breath, and was laid to rest on our property.  We shall forever cherish being chosen as "her family," for over 24 years.
